Orlando Pirates will be looking to close to gap to the top of the DStv Premiership table on Tuesday when they host an in-form Cape Town City side at Orlando Stadium.
Josef Zinnbauer's charges are fifth in the league standings and only three points adrift the top three, while leaders Sundowns are a further five points clear.
The Buccaneers come into the City clash on the back of a 1-0 win over Uthongathi in the Nedbank Cup round of 32, but Zinnbauer was far from impressed by what he saw from his players on Saturday.
"It was not a good game [against Uthongathi] for us. We created opportunities but lacked the killer instinct. We should have scored an early goal to be able to breathe," the German told the media after the game.
"But we take the win and progress to the next round. The win is important for us but I am not happy with the performance."
Pirates' last league game was a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Golden Arrows, so they will be eager to regain some of their form as they battle inconsistency.
Cape Town City have been on a great run of form in recent weeks and should be full of confidence ahead of the crunch league encounter.
The Mother City outfit are breathing down Pirates' neck as they are sixth in the standings, only two points behind the Soweto giants.
Jan Olde Riekerink's men have won three out of their last four games in all competitions and most recently thrashed Bloemfontein Celtic 4-0 in the Nedbank Cup round of 32.
The last three games between these two teams have been well balanced. The most recent clash was a 2-2 draw, while the other two saw 1-0 wins for both sides.
