Stellenbosch FC will be looking for their first win of the season when they take on Bidvest Wits at Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday evening. Stellies have played to 0-0 draws with Chippa United and Maritzburg United either side of a 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City and occupy 14th position on the Absa Premiership standings with two points from three matches. Meanwhile, Wits have had an inconsistent start to the season. After a convincing 3-0 victory over AmaZulu in their opening fixture, the Clever Boys were upset 1-0 by Baroka before bouncing back with a 1-0 win over Polokwane City. But the topsy-turvy nature of their campaign continued with a disappointing 3-0 MTN8 quarter-final defeat to SuperSport United.
Gavin Hunt and his troops will be delighted that inspirational skipper Thulani Hlatshwayo has snubbed advances from Orlando Pirates and committed himself to the Students' cause for the next three years. With two wins from three matches, Hunt's charges are in second position with six points and will be hoping that they win and top-placed Kaizer Chiefs slip up against Cape Town City so that they can go in to the international break top of the log. Hunt will know that his side need to be better at home as they have suffered defeats in both of their games at the Bidvest Stadium this season. Meanwhile, Stellies coach Steven Barker will be aware that while his side have proven difficult to break down, they need to find more penetration in the final third, as they have yet to score a goal this season.
