Victor Moses would welcome City Football Group investment into Spartak Moscow
Spartak Moscow winger Victor Moses thinks it would be “something amazing” if Manchester City’s owners were able to invest in the Russian club.
There have been reports this week that City Football Group held talks over acquiring a minority stake in Spartak, whose current owner Leonid Fedun is said to be looking to sell up.
Should a deal materialise, it would extend the number of clubs in City Football Group’s worldwide roster to 11. The organisation already has stakes in New York City, Melbourne City, Yokohama F Marinos in Japan, Uruguay’s Montevideo City Torque, Spanish side Girona, Sichuan Jiuniu in China, India’s Mumbai City, Lommel SK in Belgium and French side Troyes.
Former Wigan and Chelsea player Moses, whose side face Leicester in the Europa League at the King Power Stadium on Thursday, said: “I don’t really know much about it, but it would be an interesting thing.
“It would be great for Spartak if City were willing to buy (into) Spartak, it would be something amazing.”
Spartak and Leicester meet again on Thursday knowing that defeat would leave either team with an uphill task to qualify from Group C.
The reverse fixture in the Russian capital two weeks ago saw Leicester fight back from 2-0 down to win 4-2, with Patson Daka scoring all the Foxes’ goals.
Moses said: “To be honest in the game I didn’t realise he’d got all four. Fair play to him, he’s a good player who is quick and strong and scores goals.
“But we have had a taste of it now and we all know what to do. We know what to expect from him and we know what to expect from Leicester.
“It won’t be an easy game but we have been training hard and we are looking forward to it. They are at home and will have that advantage but may the best team win. We still believe in ourselves. Hopefully we can do our best.”
