Roberto Firmino and Harvey Elliott Liverpools only absentees for AC Milan clash

Forward Roberto Firmino and midfielder Harvey Elliott are Liverpool’s only two absentees for their Champions League opener at home to AC Milan.

Firmino is still nursing a hamstring injury from before the international break, while Elliott has undergone surgery on a dislocated ankle sustained at Leeds on Sunday.

Manager Jurgen Klopp may be tempted to rest centre-back Joel Matip, with either Joe Gomez or summer signing Ibrahima Konate potential replacements.

Liverpool provisional squad: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Thiago, Fabinho, Henderson, Salah, Jota, Mane, Kelleher, Adrian, Konate, Phillips, Matip, Tsimikas, Milner, Jones, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Keita, Origi.
