Liverpool without Curtis Jones for Atletico Madrid clash

Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has returned to light training but has not travelled to Spain for the Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is hopeful the 20-year-old’s recovery will be complete in time for him to return to the squad to face Manchester United on Sunday.

Klopp has rested Virgil Van Dijk for their last two European matches, but the Dutchman seems likely to feature against the LaLiga champions so Joel Matip may drop out on this occasion.

Liverpool provisional squad: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Keita, Salah, Firmino, Mane, Kelleher, Adrian, N Williams, Matip, Konate, Phillips, Tsimikas, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Milner, Minamino, Origi.
