Wolves 2-0 West Ham
Wolves 2-0 West Ham

Leander Dendoncker deservedly opened the scoring for the home side, who then missed several good opportunities before putting the game to bed four minutes from full-time via Patrick Cutrone.

Wolves are now 10 games unbeaten and enjoying their best start to a Premier League campaign since the 1979-80 season.

Wolves slowly worked their way into the game and deservedly took the lead after 23 minutes when Dendoncker got the right side of Ryan Fredericks to stab in Joao Moutinho’s corner.

That goal sparked the Hammers into life and they went close to equalising twice, Declan Rice failing to generate enough power from a free header 12 yards out as Rui Patricio made a straight forward save.

The Portuguese stopper was tested a little more four minutes later when Pablo Fornals nearly bent a shot in from the edge of the box, only for Patricio to push the ball away at full stretch.

Wolves ended the first half the stronger though, Diogo Jota picking up the ball and driving at goal before stinging the palms of Hammers stopper David Martin.

Wolves were even more wasteful after the interval, Dendoncker and Romain Saiss heading wide from close range, while Jonny was denied by Martin.

West Ham did have one chance to get back into the game through Robert Snodgrass but he fluffed his lines as the visitors ran out of ideas.

Wolves topscorer Raul Jimenez endured a frustrating night and he failed to take advantage of his two good chances before getting the hook for Cutrone.

The Italian had only been on the pitch a few minutes when he got on the end of a fine time move, slotting home from just inside the box after Neto’s lay-off to kill the game off.
