The Molineux outfit were in action on Thursday in the Europa League against FC Pyunik in Armenia but Nuno made nine changes for that clash.

He is expected to revert back to the XI that started the Premier League season opener against Leicester last Sunday.

Monday’s game at Molineux will be Wolves’ sixth competitive game of 2019-20 and that may favour home side as they seek a first win of the campaign.

They were held to a goalless draw by Leicester with a full-strength starting XI and the likes of Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez should come back into the fold.

Joao Moutinho and Conor Coady were the only two to retain their places for the Europa League tie as Wolves triumphed 4-0.

Wolves were unbeaten in three meetings with Manchester United last season, winning in the league and FA Cup on home soil, and Nuno will be quietly confident of causing another upset.

Defender Ryan Bennett isn’t reading too much into last season’s battles and insists United can’t be written off.

Bennett said: “It’s a massive club. Regardless of last season and the seasons before you look at it as a brand and it’s a massive club but you focus on what they do on the pitch.

“Maybe they are not as strong as before but that’s not for us to talk about. We know they had a good start to the season.”

Manchester United made a winning start to 2019-20 on home soil against Chelsea last Sunday but they may find it tough to match that performance on the road.

The Red Devils’ away form last season left a lot to be desired, failing to win any of their final four games away from Old Trafford, and Solskjaer will be keen to address that this term.

United don’t have any fresh injuries to contend with as defensive duo Eric Bailly and Tim Fosu-Mensah remain on the sidelines.

Solskjaer has confirmed Chile international Alexis Sanchez is “very close” to returning after returning late to pre-season training.

The Norwegian is under no illusions as to the difficulty of the task that will await them at Molineux on Monday evening, although he insists they head to their rivals full of confidence.

Solskjaer said: “Wolves are a hard team to break down. They defend deep and they don’t give you a lot space.

“But our form, our attitude and the mood of course after a win is great, so we go into Monday’s game confident.”
