West Ham 2-3 Tottenham
West Ham 2-3 Tottenham

Mourinho, who succeeded Mauricio Pochettino as Spurs boss on Wednesday, made three changes to the side that drew 1-1 with Sheffield United a fortnight ago, with Moura, Harry Winks and Toby Alderweireld coming in.

Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini made two alterations to his team, with Angelo Ogbonna and Andriy Yarmolenko replacing Fabian Balbuena and Pablo Fornals.

Spurs had an early Kane effort ruled out for offside before Son’s curling shot was punched away by the uncertain Roberto and Moura headed a presentable chance wide.

When West Ham responded, Sebastien Haller wasted a good chance after being set up by Felipe Anderson when he miscontrolled the ball.

Spurs took the lead in the 36th minute when Dele Alli set up Son whose shot went straight through Hammers goalkeeper Roberto, who endured another miserable afternoon.

Seven minutes later Moura doubled Spurs’ lead when he managed to force Son’s cross home and four minutes into the second half Kane powered a header from Serge Aurier’s cross past Roberto to make it 3-0.

West Ham pulled a goal back in the 73rd minute when Michail Antonio rifled a shot home. Declan Rice then had an 89th-minute effort ruled out by VAR for offside before Ogbonna made it 3-2 deep into stoppage time.

However, the late goals merely papered over the cracks for West Ham, who look set to be involved in a grim battle to avoid relegation for the rest of the season, while Spurs are now back in top-four contention.
