Frankly it’s hard to argue against Leicester’s fine run continuing.

They’ve won 10 of their last 11 in all competitions and now face a managerless team, with just a single league victory to their name.

Quique Sanchez Flores bit the dust after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Southampton which means Watford have already dismissed two managers this season. However, unlike last time they don’t appear to have a successor ‘oven ready’, to use an en vogue phrase.

A team that has been poor throughout the season can’t really be expected to change greatly under interim management of Hayden Mullins and Graham Stack.

What they may do is throw Troy Deeney back into the fray. He hasn’t started since August due to injury but he did make a substitute appearance against Burnley recently. Given the Hornets’ position and lack of goals – they’ve managed a league-low nine so far – it may be a gamble worth taking.

However, the speed and creativity of Leicester should take care of this game, even if Brendan Rodgers decides he can afford to rest a player or two given how busy the next five weeks are.

A home win to nil (5/4) looks fairly likely but also short enough, so instead try a correct-score punt with 2-0 looking decent value at 13/2.

Three of the Foxes’ last four games have ended this way and we’re getting to the time of year where game management becomes increasingly important – managers will want to save energy in second halves if they can, so if Leicester do take control, don’t expect them to be going full pelt for the full 90 minutes.

A cards bet also catches the eye.

Leicester are the best-behaved team in the top flight, picking up just 12 yellow cards so far. Watford have 27.

You can get 17/20 about Watford having more in this game (via bet365’s Asian handicap market) and that looks worth snapping up.

Only two referees average more cards than Craig Pawson this season and he also awards more fouls than any other ref, so expect the teams’ long-term discipline to be reflected by the names in his notebook.
