Manchester United continue their quest for a top-four finish when they travel to Everton on Sunday afternoon.

Match Preview

United's Champions League hopes came to an end in midweek after they were knocked out at the quarter-final stage by Barcelona and all the Red Devils' focus is now on finishing in the Premier League's top four.

Defensive issues have been a huge problem for the 20-time English champions and they have not kept a clean sheet for 10 games in all competitions, their worst run for seven years.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men have conceded 44 league goals so far this season, one short of the club's PL record for the most conceded in a season, set in 1999-2000 and 2001-02.

Left-back Luke Shaw will be missing through suspension but Ander Herrera, Nemanja Matic and Alexis Sanchez are available and could be recalled to the starting XI with changes expected.

Everton's three-match winning run was brought to a crashing halt last weekend when they lost 2-0 at already-relegated Fulham and Marco Silva once again finds himself under pressure.

The Toffees can win three successive home league games without conceding for the first time in two years if they manage to do so against United, who have only lost one of the last nine meetings between the two sides.

Midfielder Andre Gomes, who has been handed a retrospective three-match ban for a challenge on Aleksandr Mitrovic in the defeat at Fulham, will start his suspension while defender Yerry Mina is still sidelined through injury.

Betting Tips

PaddyPower Pre-Match Odds: Everton 21/10, Draw 23/10, Man Utd 13/10*

Everton losing away in Fulham may have been a saving grace for most punters. Ahead of that defeat, the Toffees were heading into this game with an incredibly short priced attached to their name.

With Marco Silva’s men winning three straight games ahead of that Fulham encounter, it’s fair to say that they are in good form ahead of their clash with Manchester United.

The same cannot be said about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men who have suffered three defeats in four games; alongside Champions League elimination at the hands of Barcelona.

The pressure is firmly on the visitors to return to winning ways and once again challenge for the top four. With that in mind, the recommendation is to back the home side to pull off a surprise result and keep the three points in Liverpool.

Everton to win and both teams to score is currently priced at 23/5 which is a price that simply cannot be ignored.
