Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard has selection issues ahead of clash with Burnley

Keinan Davis, Marvelous Nakamba, Morgan Sanson, Anwar El Ghazi, Bertrand Traore and Leon Bailey are all out for Aston Villa’s game against Burnley.

The club have a number of Covid-19 and injury issues with boss Steven Gerrard admitting he is still unsure over who will be available.

Emi Buendia’s ankle will be assessed while Trezeguet is closing in on a first-team return after his serious knee injury.

Burnley are likely again to be without Maxwel Cornet.

The forward, who is struggling with a thigh problem, has not trained this week. Fellow striker Ashley Barnes also remains sidelined with a similar injury but is making good progress.

Burnley have one Covid-related absentee, while Dale Stephens is building his fitness back up after a bout of the illness. Connor Roberts is recovering from a severe non-coronavirus-related infection that left him hospitalised.
