Bournemouth improved after the interval but Steve Cook’s goal was all they could manage in the second period.
Unchanged Wolves were the better side from the first whistle and Ruben Neves sent a fourth-minute volley wide before the visitors deservedly moved ahead through Moutinho in the 21st minute.
The 33-year-old Portugal international’s curling free-kick was too good for Aaron Ramsdale in the Bournemouth goal.
Before Eddie Howe’s side could come to terms with falling behind, Wolves scored again soon after the half-hour mark when a low cross from the outstanding Adama Traore was turned home by Jimenez – the Mexican’s 14th goal of the season in all competitions.
Bournemouth’s problems intensified eight minutes before half time when Francis, who had already been booked for a foul on Diogo Jota, was sent off for a second offence on the same player.
Jota had a goal disallowed in the 50th minute for offside before Neves sent a 25-yard shot wide but, against the run of play, Bournemouth halved the deficit in the 58th minute when Cook headed Diego Rico’s corner past Rui Patricio.
Wolves refused to panic though and Jota went close to making it 3-1 when he narrowly failed to get on the end of Traore’s low cross and Ramsdale made a smart save to keep a low drive from the same player out.
Nathan Ake went close to grabbing a late equaliser for Bournemouth but a draw would have been unfair on Wolves who were the better side on the day.
