Salford boss Graham Alexander is waiting on the fitness of Joey Jones ahead of Saturday’s visit of Walsall.

The defender missed the 1-0 defeat at Grimsby on New Year’s Day after suffering a knock in Sunday’s 4-1 derby win at Oldham.

Danny Whitehead replaced him on Wednesday and stands by to deputise again.

Alexander’s side are 11th in Sky Bet League Two after two wins from their last six games.

Cameron Pring is banned for Walsall’s first-ever trip to the Peninsula Stadium.

The on-loan Bristol City defender was dismissed Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Leyton Orient.

Captain James Clarke is available again after he sat out the New Year’s Day win through suspension.

Stuart Sinclair, Elijah Adebayo and James Hardy were missing from the squad against Orient and may return.
