The Hammers will head to the Kassam Stadium full of confidence after their superb 2-0 Premier League victory over Manchester United at the weekend.

It is customary for the bigger clubs to rotate their players in the EFL Cup and there will be many changes from those who downed the Red Devils but the Chilean tactician has a strong squad to call on.

Reports claim Pablo Zabaleta, Fabian Balbuena and Roberto have been given the green light to start against the U’s as the East End outfit look to progress to the fourth round.

Declan Rice, who is unlikely to feature, has spoken about the importance of keeping up the momentum and securing a fourth consecutive clean sheet but they will be facing an Oxford side who have netted 19 times in 10 League One matches this term.

They may be free-scoring but have also conceded 15, and the West Ham forwards will be confident of finding the net.

Midfielder Jack Wilshere and winger Felipe Anderson could also feature and would add class to the side in the final third

It remains to be seen who will start in the left-back position, with Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku the options and the man that misses out is likely to get the nod to face Bournemouth in the league at the weekend.

Oxford boss Karl Robinson has been making all the right noises in the build-up to the match, suggesting that his side have a chance of causing another upset after Tottenham were beaten on penalties by Colchester on Tuesday evening.

He has already made it clear there will be several changes to the side that put six unanswered goals past Lincoln City at Sincil Bank on Saturday.

They sit 12th in the third tier of England football but have ambitions move much higher while the Hammers are fifth in the Premier League after a solid start to proceedings.
