Preston were recently keeping the pace with sides like Leeds, Fulham and West Brom at the top of the Championship, recently winning three straight games against Blackburn, Charlton, Preston.

But they’ve just fallen away a little over the past week as they’ve suffered a couple of damaging back-to-back defeats while West Brom and Leeds have just kept winning to carve out a bit of a gap at the top of the table.

Alex Neil’s men will be glad to return to Deepdale, with their away form still questionable following those defeats over the past ten days, 1-0 at Derby followed by a 4-0 mauling at Hull. While they’re downright poor away (two wins from nine on the road) it’s a totally different story at home, where they boast the best record in the division.

They’re still unbeaten at Deepdale with seven wins and two draws on home soil, and come into this game with a strong XI available featuring Jayden Stockley supported by Tom Barkhuizen, Sean Maguire and top score Daniel Johnson (eight goals). Darnell Fisher is expected to return at right-back after Ryan Ledson was given a torrid time at Hull in midweek.

West Brom come into this game full of confidence, having lost just one game all season, and that was a narrow 1-0 defeat at Leeds. They’ve won four games in a row and will be looking to maintain their place as league leaders with a comfortable seven-point lead over third place.

They’re without last season’s two prolific goalscorers Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez, but have goals throughout the team, as the midweek 4-1 victory over Bristol City demonstrated. No player has more than six goals, but one to watch is the supremely talented midfielder Matheus Pereira with seven assists and four goals.

Slaven Bilic has a fully fit squad to choose from here.

We recommend backing Preston to take a point here, given their home form, but West Brom will provide a very stern test.
